COMPETITION TERM 3, 2024

FORMAT

3 Zones (Far/Mid North, Whangarei, Kaipara)

5 rounds (Home and away series, or centralised location, whatever works best for the zone)

8 weeks, 8 games

FINALS SERIES

A = Premier League
(4 teams, first from each pool + play in winner).

B = Championship League
(play in loser, 2 teams who were second from each pool + play in winner that was in 3rd place in zone play).

C = Cup League
(4 teams, last from each pool + play in loser).

PREMIERE/CHAMPIONSHIP/ CUP GAMES: PRE-PLAYOFFS

2 games each (Central location either McKay Stadium, or SportsVille)

(AQF1) Pool A #1 vs Pool A #4,
(AQF2) Pool A #2 vs Pool A #3

Northland Championship Semi Finals
(BQF1) Pool B #2 vs Pool B #3,
(BQF2) Pool 8 #4 vs Pool B #1

FINALS FORMAT

Northland Premier Finals –
Winner (AQF1) vs Winner (AQF2) for title,
Loser (AQF1) vs Loser (AQF2) for 3rd/4th

Northland Championship Finals –
Winner (BQF1) vs Winner (BQF2) for title,
Loser (BQF1) vs Loser (BQF2) for 3rd/4th

BASIC RULES...

  • Entry Fee will be minimal, just to cover refereeing cost and court hireage.
  • GloryLeague will be available at central locations for finals series.
  • Basic statistics to be rocoded and kept.
  • Updated ladder, statics and draws to be done and published via GAMEDAY.
  • Refrees for playoff and finals series to be organized by Northland Basketball.
  • Teams must register via GAMEDAY link provided by Northland Basketball, and ALL players and coaches must be registered via GAMEDAY before taking the court.
  • If schools wish to host games, referees are to be sorted by both schools participating, same with scorebench duties.
  • Scorebench to be manned by no less than 1/ person from each team to provide transparency and equality of scoring/result.
  • 24 second Shot clock to be used Stop clock to be used
  • 8 minute quarters
  • Zone delense is allowed
  • 5 fouls per player
  • Year 9 – 13 players eligible to play
  • Players 15 years of age and under are to play no more than half of the available game time to align with balance is better. This is a where possible player availability and injuries that can skew this.
